About Sterling Tax Services

Sterling Tax Services was established in 2006 by Martin Riley to provide specialist taxation services to UK migrants and returning New Zealanders.  Martin is a UK trained chartered accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser.  He developed a passion for personal taxation during his time at KPMG and now enjoys the challenge of cross-border personal taxation and financial planning.

Martin has had many years of experience lecturing on both UK and New Zealand taxation at all levels.  He has lectured to students throughout the UK and Eastern Europe and has previously been involved in presenting tax update courses to tax practitioners throughout the UK and New Zealand.  He has also written many articles which have appeared in the mainstream and professional press.

During his time in the UK Martin also presented financial planning courses to UK chartered accountants who were studying for the Financial Planning Certificate.  This helped to develop his passion for financial planning.  He is G60 qualified which means that he has a thorough understanding of UK pension planning.

During his time in New Zealand Martin has been heavily involved with clients wanting to transfer their UK pensions to New Zealand and has worked closely with many financial advisers to ensure that clients get the best possible advice.

Martin has also advised many other professionals such as accountants and lawyers and enjoys working with other professionals to provide integrated advice for clients.
