
Sterling Tax Services was set up at the end of 2006 by Martin Riley.
Martin has over 20 years of specialist tax experience in both the UK and New Zealand. Having trained with Peat Marwick (now KPMG) and Price Waterhouse (now PwC) he spent many years involved in tax training to all levels of staff from student through to partner level. In 2001 he set up Isis Tax Consultancy which provided tax support to small and medium sized accountancy practices. He qualified as a chartered accountant in the UK in 1988 and as a chartered tax adviser in 1993.
Martin has been involved since 2005 with the Sunway College programme in Kuala Lumpur which prepares students for the UK professional exams of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). He moved to Christchurch early in 2006 with his New Zealand wife, Noreen. He became a member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants (NZICA) in 2007 and has presented tax update courses throughout New Zealand on behalf of NZICA.
In his spare time Martin is a member of Canterbury Triathlon Club and represented New Zealand at the World Triathlon Age Group Championships in Budapest in 2010.
